Marcus Semien, a veteran second baseman for the Mets, is expected to miss at least four to six weeks due to a left hip flexor strain. The injury, classified as a Grade 3 strain, significantly limited his movement, prompting the team to place him on the injured list.

Semien attempted to play through the strain before it worsened, according to reports. Interim manager Andy Green stated that Semien will be out for a "little bit of time" before returning to the field.

Ronny Mauricio and Brett Baty are the current options at second base in Semien's absence.

In other Mets injury news, outfielder Luis Robert Jr. is scheduled to begin a minor league rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday. Robert has been on the injured list since April 27 with a lumbar disc spine herniation.

Additionally, pitcher Tobias Myers was optioned to Syracuse, and Joey Gerber was recalled to bolster the bullpen. Myers has struggled recently, posting a 14.54 ERA this month and allowing three earned runs over three innings in his last appearance against the Phillies. Green indicated the plan for Myers is to "stack innings" in the minors, with his future role, whether as a starter or reliever, yet to be determined.

The Mets are set to have Nolan McLean and Freddy Peralta start the final two games of the current series before an off-day on Thursday. McLean, a rookie, recently allowed six earned runs over six innings against the Cubs but has a 4.03 ERA for the season. Green expressed confidence in McLean, noting that while he gave up long balls, he demonstrated positive aspects in his outing, including nine strikeouts in a portion of the game.
