Marcus Rashford has thanked Jamie Carragher for ceasing discussions about his future at Manchester United, following an exchange on The Overlap Fan Debate where Gary Neville raised the subject.

Rashford, who returned to Old Trafford after his loan spell with Barcelona expired, has seen his significant wages reportedly make a new club difficult to secure. Despite a challenging period, he featured in United's final pre-season friendly and appears set for reintegration into the squad.

During the fan debate, Carragher expressed frustration with the persistent focus on Rashford. "Oh f***ing hell. Can we do a podcast without mentioning Rashford? Stop it! Oh my god. It’s like the Trent and Rashford - there was like a little part of the podcast - the Trent part or the Rashford part," Carragher stated. Neville then quipped, "No, but he’s come back to United." Carragher responded, "So what? Oh my God. He’s just a good player for Man United!"

The clip was shared on social media, prompting Rashford to comment. "Thanks, Jamie. It would be great to be able to get my head down and play football without my name being mentioned every day," he wrote.

Rashford was reportedly disappointed that Barcelona did not exercise their option to buy him permanently in the summer. Instead, the Catalan club acquired Anthony Gordon from Newcastle for a reported £69 million.

Unless a transfer materializes in the remaining weeks of the window, Rashford is expected to remain at Manchester United. Manager Erik ten Hag indicated his belief in Rashford's potential contribution.

"He's a very good player, and I think if you're going to have a career over 10 or 15 years, there's going to be times when things go in a direction and maybe a different direction," ten Hag said. "I think there are ups and downs, and that doesn't judge you as a one-off kind of judgment. It's what happens over time, and now we're in a positive place as a group, and Marcus can offer us so much. He has done, and he can do again, so in that respect, it's quite exciting."

Ten Hag added that Rashford has been training well and is integrated back into the group. "He came in, he's trained really well. I've known him a long time, like I've known some of the others a long time, so I don't treat him any different to anybody else, but it's been good to have him around the group again this week. So I'm really positive with that."
