Manchester United Players' Partners Cancel Night Out Amid Lisandro Martinez Controversy

Partners of Manchester United players reportedly canceled a planned night out on Thursday due to the fallout from defender Lisandro Martinez's public criticism of club officials. The decision to cancel a booking at the Italian restaurant Cibo in Hale was made to maintain a low profile as the club navigates the controversy.

Martinez had publicly voiced frustration with technical director Jason Wilcox and senior executives for not adequately supporting manager Michael Carrick in the summer transfer window. Following his comments, which reportedly led to a fine, Martinez issued a statement on Instagram to clarify his remarks.

Among those reportedly expected to attend the canceled dinner were Muri Lopez, Martinez's partner, along with Fern Hawkins, wife of Harry Maguire, and Ana Pinho, wife of Bruno Fernandes.

Manager Michael Carrick addressed the situation on Friday, stating that the club and the squad have moved past the incident. He indicated that Martinez acknowledged his mistake and that the matter would not be a distraction. "We all understood the situation and what it meant. Lisandro obviously made his statement, and he acknowledges that it was a mistake from him, and that was it really. It's really not a drama for us as a group. We've genuinely moved on," Carrick said.

Carrick expressed confidence that Martinez's public acknowledgment was sufficient and that the focus is now on improving the team's performance. "From our point of view, the acknowledgement of what's been done has certainly been enough. He's released his statement and he's realised he's made a mistake. I think that's enough for all of us to move on with. We're definitely not looking back at it now," he added.

Martinez is expected to be included in the squad for Manchester United's upcoming match against Leeds on Sunday.
