Manchester United Goalkeeper Andre Onana Unharmed After Multi-Vehicle Crash in Turkey

Manchester United's on-loan goalkeeper Andre Onana was involved in a terrifying multi-vehicle pile-up in Turkey on Thursday night but escaped serious harm. The 30-year-old goalkeeper's £100,000 Hongqi E-HS9 SUV was struck from behind at high speed by another vehicle, causing it to then collide with a car in front.

Emergency services responded rapidly to the incident on Yomra road near Trabzon. Onana, who rejoined Turkish club Trabzonspor on loan from Manchester United this season after playing for them last term, was taken to a local hospital for examination and later discharged.

Images from the scene appeared to show damage to the rear right side of Onana's vehicle, with debris scattered across the road. It is not confirmed if Onana's family, including his young son, were traveling with him at the time of the collision.

Hours before the crash, Onana had kept a clean sheet in Trabzonspor's 2-0 UEFA Conference League victory over Hearts. His recent performances have been strong, with the goalkeeper shutting out the opposition in four of his last five matches.

Onana joined Manchester United from Inter Milan for £43 million in 2023, but a series of high-profile errors led to him becoming a polarizing figure at Old Trafford. His contract with Manchester United runs until 2028, and his future with the club remains uncertain, with suggestions he may not play for them again. Currently, he is on loan to Trabzonspor, helping them to fourth place in the Turkish top flight.
