Manchester City has officially completed the signing of England midfielder Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for a reported 116 million pounds, approximately $155 million. The transfer fee represents a club record for City, surpassing the 100 million pounds ($139 million) paid for Jack Grealish in 2021, and ranks among the most significant in Premier League history.

Anderson, 23, expressed his determination to join one of the world's top clubs. "As soon as I knew they wanted me, I was absolutely determined to make this move happen," he stated. "As a footballer, you want to test yourself at the highest level. Being at City means I have that opportunity."

This signing marks the first major acquisition for City under new manager Enzo Maresca, who took over following the departure of iconic coach Pep Guardiola at the end of last season.

City's director of football, Hugo Viana, described Anderson as "one of the outstanding young midfield talents in world football right now." Viana highlighted Anderson's energy, work rate, and passing range, adding that at 23, he has significant potential for development. "Manchester City is the best place for him to develop his game and keep improving," Viana commented.

Anderson began his professional career at Newcastle before joining Forest in 2024. He has since earned a place in the England squad, notably being a key player for the team that secured bronze at the World Cup. He aims to establish himself in the City team immediately, recognizing the club's commitment to winning trophies and competing at the highest level.
