Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers is progressing in his rehabilitation from a torn ACL and could be integrated into team drills as early as Monday, August 17, according to head coach John Harbaugh. This marks a potential key development in Nabers' readiness for the upcoming season.
Nabers reduced his workload during practice on Wednesday as part of his scheduled recovery. Harbaugh expressed optimism about Nabers' progress, stating, "We’re looking towards soon ramping him up into some group periods and perhaps some team periods. Maybe next week. We’ll see. He’s doing great. He’s working hard. Spirits are high."
Separately, when asked about quarterback Jaxson Dart's potential participation in Saturday's preseason opener against the Vikings, Harbaugh humorously deflected, "That’s a good direct question I’m going to have to dodge. I’m going to have to bob and weave. I’ll say, ‘I’ll let you know later.’ "
Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy highlighted the importance of preseason games for evaluating Dart's adaptation to a new offense. "If there’s one or two plays where he might not be seeing it well,” Nagy said, “let’s figure out why you’re not."
The Giants' unofficial depth chart revealed some shifts, listing edge rushers Abdul Carter and Kayvon Thibodeaux, and running backs Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy Jr. as co-starters. Cornerback Paulson Adebo is listed ahead of Deonte Banks. The starting wide receiver positions are currently occupied by Darius Slayton and Nabers, with Odell Beckham Jr. listed as a third-teamer. Evan Neal and Aaron Stinnie share the co-right guard spot on the second-team offense, while Braxton Berrios is designated as the primary punt returner. The depth chart does not specify a slot cornerback or slot receiver position.
