Islam Makhachev established a new UFC record with his 17th consecutive victory on Saturday night, defeating Ian Machado Garry by unanimous decision to retain his 170-pound championship at UFC 330 in Philadelphia.

Makhachev, who has not lost since 2015, surpassed Anderson Silva's previous record of 16 straight wins. He secured the welterweight title in November 2025 and faced no significant challenges in his first defense.

In the second round, Makhachev landed a headkick that dropped Garry. While Makhachev followed up with punches, Garry was able to recover and finish the round. Garry, however, rallied in the fifth round, landing seven significant strikes to Makhachev's none, but it was not enough to overcome the champion. Makhachev won with scores of 49-46 on two scorecards and 48-47 on the third.

In another title fight, Mackenzie Dern successfully defended her 115-pound championship in her first defense, also by unanimous decision, against Gillian Robertson. Dern won with scores of 49-46 on two scorecards and 48-47 on the third. Dern had secured the vacant strawweight belt in her previous fight and dominated the first defense.

Veteran fighter Edson Barboza announced his retirement from MMA following his lightweight loss to Esteben Ribovics. Barboza, 40, left his gloves in the center of the octagon and was emotional as he concluded a career that began in 2009. He had made his UFC debut in 2010 and earned multiple Fight of the Night honors. He lost his last four fights.

UFC 330 marked the promotion's third numbered event in Philadelphia and its first overall event in the city since 2019. The event drew enthusiastic fans, with local fighter Jeremiah Wells securing a submission victory on the preliminary card. Middleweight Tresean Gore also won his bout via unanimous decision against Vicente Luque, despite losing several teeth during the fight.
