Mahomes Remains Top Quarterback in Nick Wright's Week 6 Rankings
Patrick Mahomes holds the No. 1 spot, while several other quarterbacks see significant movement in the latest rankings.
Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs remains at the top of Nick Wright's quarterback hierarchy following Week 6 of the NFL season. Despite a shake-up that saw several players tumble in the rankings, Mahomes maintained his position at the summit.
Jalen Hurts experienced another drop in the rankings, while Dak Prescott's performance led to a decrease in his standing. Matthew Stafford, however, climbed the list despite his team's loss. A number of backup quarterbacks also saw their positions improve.
Wright categorized several quarterbacks as "Injured," including Lamar Jackson, Caleb Williams, and Baker Mayfield, noting that Jaxson Dart would not be returning. Justin Herbert was placed "Off the mountain," with Wright expressing concern over his performance, stating that he did not appear to be one of the 28 best quarterbacks in the league. Other players listed as "Off the mountain" included Tyson Bagent, Malik Willis, and Cam Ward.
Quarterbacks appearing in the "7th Row" category included Jalen Hurts, Daniel Jones, Deshaun Watson, Bo Nix, Geno Smith, Jacoby Brissett, and Jameis Winston. Wright commented on Hurts's fall, attributing it partially to external factors and a non-functional offense. He noted that Jones and Watson also dropped, while Nix, Smith, Brissett, and Winston were considered "bottom-row guys."
The "6th Row" featured Kyler Murray, Tyler Huntley, Sam Darnold, Tyler Shough, Jalon Daniels, and Jayden Daniels. Murray moved up after showing "juice" in his team's offense, and Huntley was recognized for his performance as a backup. Darnold saw his standing diminish, while Shough's optimism also decreased. Jayden Daniels re-entered the rankings due to his dynamic play.
In the "5th Row," Drake Maye saw a steady climb, nearly reaching the fourth row after a five-touchdown performance. Aaron Rodgers was also noted for playing well in recent games. C.J. Stroud remained in place despite his team's win, and Michael Penix Jr. was placed in the row despite a rib injury. Kirk Cousins fell to the fifth row.
The "4th Row" included Bryce Young, Matthew Stafford, Dak Prescott, and Jordan Love. Stafford moved up despite a loss, while Prescott dropped after an "awful" Thursday night performance. Jordan Love was noted for his strong play.
Quartrbacks in the "3rd Row" were Trevor Lawrence, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow. Lawrence dropped on the mountain despite a key play, and was grouped with Allen, who was dynamic in the fourth quarter and overtime, and Burrow, who has been good but not great by his standards.
The "2nd Row" saw a change with Jared Goff moving up. Wright highlighted Goff's team's offensive efficiency and his own lack of turnovers. Brock Purdy was noted for his brilliance late in a game but also for his lowest passer rating, fewest yards, and first interception of the year.
Mahomes retained the top spot in the "1st Row" because, unlike Purdy, he was not intercepted during the week.
