As the August 3 trade deadline looms, pitcher Luke Weaver remains focused on his performance with the New York Mets, despite acknowledging that his time with the team could be limited. Weaver, who signed a two-year deal with the Mets last offseason, expressed his desire to stay with the organization.

"I committed to come here to give everything I’ve got for the two years," Weaver said. "I try to help this organization any way I can and if they see that same vision and continue to feel that confidence, then, amazing. But I understand how this game works. I’ve been a part of those situations, so I guess I’m mentally prepared from experience, but I’m not too focused on it."

Weaver's comments come as the Mets appear poised to sell some of their assets before the deadline. He pitched in the Mets' recent win against the Philadelphia Phillies, allowing his first earned run since April. The team has started the second half of the season with a victory.
