Luke Humphries Ends Title Drought with World Grand Prix Victory

Luke Humphries, the world number two, ended a 16-month wait for a PDC major trophy by defeating Gerwyn Price 6-4 in the World Grand Prix final. The victory marks Humphries' second World Grand Prix title, having previously won in 2023, a win that propelled him to world number one status. He had not secured a major trophy since winning the Premier League in May 2025 and a ranking title had eluded him since February last year.

Humphries, who was the second seed and appeared in his fourth consecutive World Grand Prix final, faced an early deficit, trailing Price 3-0. However, he rallied to win four consecutive sets, establishing control of the match. Although Price managed to draw level, Humphries secured a crucial break in the deciding leg of the fifth set and went on to win three straight legs to clinch the championship.

The win ensures Humphries maintains his world number two ranking, ahead of Gian van Veen of the Netherlands. For Gerwyn Price, the defeat extends his own wait for a major PDC title to four years and marks his fifth consecutive major final loss, including three this year.
