Luka Doncic, star player for the Dallas Mavericks, has indicated his preference for Nikola Jokic over LeBron James as his ultimate teammate in a hypothetical 2-on-2 game. Doncic made this selection during a recent interview when asked to choose between the two NBA stars.
The interview, conducted by Instagram user Klemen Kopina on July 6, presented Doncic with a series of hypothetical 2-on-2 matchups. Initially, Doncic was asked to choose between Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, opting for Jokic. He continued to select Jokic when paired against other prominent players, including former Lakers legends Shaquille O’Neal and Magic Johnson, as well as San Antonio Spurs standout Victor Wembanyama.
The pivotal moment came when Doncic was directly asked to choose between Jokic and James. Without hesitation, Doncic selected Jokic. His choices continued with Jokic over Boston Celtics icon Larry Bird, and then Michael Jordan over Bird to conclude the segment.
While the interview focused on ideal pairings for a 2-on-2 scenario, which differs strategically from a 5-on-5 game, Doncic's swift decision regarding James has generated significant attention on social media. James is set to become a free agent this summer, with reports indicating he intends to sign elsewhere from his current team, the Los Angeles Lakers.
