San Francisco Giants ace Logan Webb will not pitch in Tuesday's MLB All-Star Game, a decision made in consultation with manager Tony Vitello and the team's coaching staff. While Webb will still attend the event in Philadelphia, his participation on the mound will be limited to emergency situations.

The rationale behind the decision stems from Webb's extensive workload this season, including his participation in the World Baseball Classic and a recent stint on the injured list due to bursitis in his right knee. Manager Tony Vitello noted that Webb had already put in significant time, particularly with his performance in the WBC.

This marks the first time in three years that Webb will have an extended break during the All-Star period. In his previous two All-Star appearances, he pitched in the game, with varying results. Last year in Atlanta, he threw a scoreless inning, but in the 2024 game in Texas, he allowed three runs. Following that outing, Webb admitted to partying too hard the night before.

His absence means fans will miss seeing one of baseball's most durable starting pitchers. Since his debut in 2021, only Zack Wheeler has accumulated more value than Webb. Despite Webb's withdrawal from pitching, it remained unclear whether Major League Baseball would name a replacement to the National League roster.
