Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones engaged in a heated argument with teammate Dominik Szoboszlai following the team's 1-0 victory over Wrexham at Yankee Stadium.
The exchange occurred after the full-time whistle as the players were walking across the pitch to acknowledge the supporters. Kostas Tsimikas also became involved in the disagreement.
The specific cause of the dispute remains unclear. However, reports indicate that during the match, Szoboszlai handed his captain's armband to Tsimikas when he was substituted, rather than to Jones. Video footage from the post-match interaction shows Tsimikas discarding the armband on the ground.
Jones, 25, has been the subject of transfer interest, with Liverpool reportedly rejecting a £21.7 million offer from Inter Milan earlier in the summer. He has one year remaining on his current contract with the Anfield club.
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has previously expressed his desire for Jones to remain with the team. "For me he is a great, great player, and I hope he can continue with us and continue performing the way he has been performing," Iraola stated earlier this month.
Liverpool is set to conclude their pre-season tour of North America on Sunday, facing Leeds in Chicago.
