Liverpool Mount Comeback Against Nine-Man Brentford
Late goals from Victor Munoz and Alexander Isak secure victory after Brentford suffer two red cards.
Liverpool completed a comeback victory against Brentford, with goals from Victor Munoz and Alexander Isak sealing a win against a Brentford side reduced to nine men. The Reds came from behind after Keane Lewis-Potter had given Brentford an early lead.
The match turned on its head just before halftime when Yehor Yarmolyuk was shown a red card for a headbutt. The momentum shifted further in Liverpool's favor in the second half.
Victor Munoz equalized in the 62nd minute, assisted by Florian Wirtz. Eight minutes later, Alexander Isak, returning from injury, scored the decisive goal with an assist from Bradley Barcola.
Brentford's attempts to regain parity were thwarted, and their challenges were compounded when Vitaly Janelt received a red card in added time.
The result provides a much-needed boost for Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola following a previous loss. However, the team faced concerns as Jeremie Frimpong was forced off with an injury shortly after coming on in the second half.
