Liverpool Football Club has firmly stated its position against selling forward Cody Gakpo, despite expressed interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Reds are prioritizing strengthening their attacking options rather than reducing them.

Gakpo, 27, is under contract with Liverpool until 2030. Given the current transfer market valuations for experienced players, a substantial financial offer would be required to alter the club's stance on his sale.

While Gakpo's goal tally of nine in the most recent season was lower than his personal best of 18 during the 2024-25 campaign, he remains a highly valued player at Anfield. Liverpool's attacking lineup has seen a significant change this summer with the departure of Mohamed Salah. The club's sole attacking acquisition thus far has been winger Víctor Munoz, who joined from Osasuna for £34.5 million.

Liverpool initially acquired Gakpo from PSV for £44 million in 2022.

Tottenham, meanwhile, is reportedly monitoring Omar Marmoush at Manchester City and is also in negotiations for Savinho. The North London club has primarily focused on reinforcing its defense and midfield this transfer window. They have secured goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on a free transfer from Burnley and added defenders Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi without a transfer fee, from Liverpool and Bournemouth respectively. Their most significant defensive signing has been Jan Paul van Hecke, acquired from Brighton for £52 million. In midfield, Tottenham has signed Sandro Tonali from Newcastle for £100 million and Mateus Fernandes from West Ham for £85 million.

Elsewhere in Liverpool's youth setup, forward Keyrol Figueroa, 19, is reportedly attracting interest from EFL clubs Barnsley and Salford. Figueroa recently impressed the U21 team during their camp in Slovakia and scored in a friendly match against Cardiff City. Defender Wellity Lucky is also nearing a return from injury and is expected to be loaned out, with Cardiff City interested in acquiring Liverpool left-back Calum Scanlon on loan.
