Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn is still dealing with significant injuries five months after a crash at the 2026 Winter Olympics, stating that her ankle is "still broken." Vonn revealed the extent of her injuries, which include a complex tibia fracture, a fractured fibular head, and a tibial plateau injury.
In an interview with People on Wednesday, Vonn described her recovery as "a very slow process." She noted that she has only recently been able to return to the gym in a "somewhat meaningful way" and that walking is "still really hard" for her.
Vonn sustained the severe injuries just 13 seconds into her run in the women's downhill final. Despite a prior knee injury before the Games, she had attempted the run. She was in a wheelchair and on crutches for an extended period, being unable to walk unassisted for nearly three and a half months. "I got very emotional when I was able to walk on my own," Vonn said.
She also posted an update on her recovery, stating that she has "a very long road ahead."
