Lewis Hall Chose Newcastle Over Manchester United Due to Manager's Vision

Newcastle defender Lewis Hall has revealed that he opted against a transfer to Manchester United in favor of remaining at Newcastle, influenced by the vision presented by new Magpies manager Matthias Jaissle. Hall, 22, was a target for United during the summer transfer window as the club sought to strengthen its left-back position. However, Manchester United ultimately decided against pursuing a move after Newcastle indicated their unwillingness to part with the player.

Hall expressed his commitment to Newcastle, stating his belief in the club's project and ambitions under Jaissle. "I knew that since the manager came in, I knew the ambitions and what we wanted to achieve," Hall said, as reported by The Sun. "After not many conversations, not many training sessions, I knew that the manager was going to be really good for this club and I knew that as a team, bringing in new players and improving the squad was really important and as soon as we did that, it was a no-brainer really to sign."

The defender recently signed a new contract with Newcastle and earned a recall to the England squad. Newcastle has experienced a mixed start to the current season, but Hall's goal in their recent 2-1 victory over Hull City contributed to the team's ascent to ninth place in the Premier League standings.

Hall praised manager Jaissle, describing him as "a top guy" who has provided him with the freedom to express himself on the field, provided defensive responsibilities and required work rate are met. "He's been a positive for everyone who's come in so far," Hall added.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are reportedly looking to bolster their defense in the upcoming summer transfer window, having focused on midfield acquisitions this year. While United retains an interest in Hall, they are also reportedly evaluating other defensive targets, including Ferdi Kadioglu of Brighton, Ian Maatsen of Aston Villa, and Jorge Salinas of Racing Santander.
