Leon Slater Faces Nic Nemeth for TNA World Championship at Bound for Glory
The 22-year-old contender has an opportunity to make history as the youngest TNA World Champion.
Leon Slater has earned a second chance to capture history at Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's (TNA) biggest event of the year, Bound for Glory. On Sunday, the 22-year-old British wrestler will challenge Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Championship.
Slater secured this championship opportunity by cashing in Option C, a provision that allows a wrestler to trade their X Division Championship for a shot at the world title. He made the decision and announced his intentions to challenge Nemeth on a recent episode of "Impact."
"Nic, let’s get one thing clear – that rule isn’t saving me. That rule is saving you," Slater declared on "Impact," addressing Nemeth. "Because in a couple of days at Bound for Glory, when I finally get to beat your a— and take that title, you are going to realize exactly why they call me ‘The Youngest In Charge.’ "
Director of Authority Santino Marella has stipulated that neither competitor can make physical contact before their championship match at Bound for Glory.
Slater has emerged as one of TNA's most prominent rising stars since joining the promotion in 2023. He previously held the X Division Championship, winning it in May 2025. His quest to become the longest-reigning X Division champion was thwarted by Cedric Alexander in May.
Slater regained the X Division Championship from Alexander in a Last Man Standing Match inside a steel cage at Slammiversary. However, his second reign was brief, lasting only a few hours before he opted to cash in Option C.
Nemeth, who is in his second reign as TNA World Champion, earned his shot at the title by winning the Call Your Shot Gauntlet match at Slammiversary. He defeated Mike Santana for the championship at the same event. The Call Your Shot Gauntlet match is also scheduled to take place at Bound for Glory, with the winner earning a future world title shot.
Bound for Glory is scheduled to take place at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. The event is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. ET and will be available for viewing on TNA+.
