Leeds United have agreed to a transfer fee of £34.1 million with Italian club Sassuolo for defender Tarik Muharemovic. The 23-year-old center-back has yet to agree to personal terms or undergo a medical examination, although other Premier League clubs have reportedly expressed interest.

If the transfer to Elland Road is completed, Muharemovic would become Daniel Farke's second signing of the summer. This follows the free transfer of attacker Harry Wilson from Fulham. Muharemovic is expected to serve as a direct replacement for Pascal Struijk, who transferred to Brighton for £20 million in June.

Muharemovic previously made three appearances for Bosnia-Herzegovina in the World Cup, including their last-32 match against co-hosts the United States. During that game, he was fouled by U.S. forward Folarin Balogun, an incident that led to Balogun's red card. However, FIFA later waived the suspension following an intervention from U.S. President Donald Trump and White House officials.

Born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Muharemovic began his professional career in Austrian football, debuting for Wolfsberger in 2021. He later moved to Juventus, where he did not feature for the first team. He was subsequently sold to Sassuolo in 2025 after a successful loan spell with the club. Juventus is reportedly set to receive 50% of the transfer fee due to a clause included in their sale of the player last summer.
