A viral video showing LeBron James taking a sip of a fan's wine during a recent Philadelphia 76ers game has gained further explanation from the fan involved.
The incident occurred during the 76ers' home win against the Chicago Bulls on November 2, 2026. As James ran near the stanchion and into the stands, he appeared to grab a drink from a fan, later identified as Troy Clemons, take a sip, and then return to the court. James contributed 15 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds in the 126-107 victory.
Multiple camera angles captured the moment, with ESPN's Kris Rhim posting one version on X (formerly Twitter). James addressed the incident with reporters after the game, explaining his actions.
"I spilled some of his wine. I crashed into him, spilled some of his wine," James said. "So I wanted to see if it was worth it on my arm and how good it was. It was all right."
Clemons also shared his account of the interaction with Rhim. "LeBron crashed into me, he grabbed me, he said, ‘My bad,’" Clemons stated. "My drinks spilled everywhere, he took my drink from me, and he basically just took a sip of it."
Clemons mentioned that he discarded the cup he offered to James and received a new drink afterward. The fan recounted that he threw the wine cup in the trash and got a fresh drink. The fan's interaction with the basketball superstar has since become a notable story.
