Basketball icon LeBron James is reportedly set to join the Philadelphia 76ers, marking a new chapter in his storied career. James announced his decision Friday via a post on X, formerly Twitter.

"I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team and I am so excited to energize a new fan base and start this incredible journey one last time," James stated in his post. He further elaborated on his motivations, saying, "This is my last decision. I’m not going for money. I’m not going for family. What am I really playing for at this point? I still want to sacrifice. I still want to work. I still want to grind. I still want to compete, to win and to have a chance at the feeling of winning."

James, the NBA's all-time leading scorer, will be signing a two-year deal worth $8 million, which includes a player option, according to his agent Rich Paul, who spoke with ESPN.

During his eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, James also previously played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat. He has won an NBA championship with each of the teams he has previously played for.
