LeBron James Debuts for 76ers in Preseason Win Over Nets

LeBron James made his preseason debut for the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night, playing his first minutes for the team since his blockbuster signing this summer. The 41-year-old forward contributed 10 points, five assists, and four rebounds in the first half against the Brooklyn Nets, helping the 76ers to a 58-56 lead.

James's debut was delayed due to 'chronic arthritis' in his left foot, which caused him to miss the team's first preseason game against the New York Knicks. His appearance on Thursday marks the expected final stop of his NBA career.

The 76ers showcased a potent lineup featuring James alongside fellow All-Star newcomer Jaylen Brown and returning starters Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. Maxey scored 14 points in the first half, with other starters also contributing at least six points.

Despite the initial missed shot from James, the 76ers quickly found their rhythm, making their next seven shots. James was instrumental in distributing the ball, finding open teammates for scoring opportunities. Coach Nick Nurse indicated that his starters were expected to play approximately half the game, though Embiid, Brown, and VJ Edgecombe remained on the floor to begin the second half.

James signed a two-year deal with the 76ers for the league minimum, totaling $8 million, after spending his previous eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. The veteran's ability to remain healthy will be a key factor as the 76ers aim for an NBA Championship. He had previously missed the first month of last season due to sciatica.
