Lando Norris has signed a new contract that will keep him with McLaren Formula 1 team until at least the end of 2030. The decision to extend his commitment was described by the British driver as an "easy yes" for him.

Norris stated that he did not explore options with other teams before agreeing to the new deal, emphasizing his desire to remain with McLaren. "There was some interest from elsewhere, but I don't want to go anywhere. I don't want to be with another team. I don't want to spend time with other people," Norris told BBC Sport. "That's why it really was probably one of the easiest decisions I've made since being in Formula 1."

His current contract had over a year remaining, alleviating any immediate pressure to finalize a new agreement. However, discussions about an extension began to take shape over the past four months. Norris indicated that the strong relationships within the team, including with CEO Zak Brown and team principal Andrea Stella, were a significant factor in his decision.

Norris joined McLaren for his Formula 1 debut in 2019. The team experienced a period of struggle before a notable improvement in performance following Stella's promotion to team principal at the end of 2022. McLaren secured consecutive constructors' championships in 2024 and 2025, ending a championship drought that dated back to 1998, and Norris secured the drivers' title last year.

"The fact I stuck it through with them and then we went on to obviously have success certainly makes me feel like I don't want to... they didn't give up on me and I didn't give up on them," Norris said. "That just creates a very strong bond between everyone that works here. I want to believe that bond stays as strong as it is now 'til I do retire in my career at Formula 1."

Despite a challenging start to the current season, Norris expressed confidence in the team's current position and their ability to overcome future obstacles together. "I believe we're in the best place we've ever been even with a tough start to the season. And I believe that we can fight through anything together for sure."
