Lamine Yamal's Father in Altercation with Blogger Outside Ballon d'Or Ceremony
The father of Spanish football star Lamine Yamal was involved in a heated exchange with a Russian blogger outside the Ballon d'Or awards in London, with former player Andrey Arshavin intervening.
The father of Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal, Mounir Nasraoui, was involved in a physical altercation with a Russian football blogger outside the Ballon d'Or awards ceremony in London. Footage captured by content creator Seva Kryseva appears to show Nasraoui swiping at Kryseva's phone as the blogger approached him while he was smoking.
Kryseva claimed Nasraoui almost broke his iPhone. Former Arsenal player Andrey Arshavin, who was present, intervened and appeared to defend Nasraoui's reaction. "He should've smashed your face in instead, Seva," Arshavin was quoted as saying. Arshavin questioned Kryseva's motives for approaching Nasraoui, noting that while the team had lost the main award, Yamal had won the Kopa Trophy, recognizing the best player under 21.
Kryseva attempted to explain his actions by stating Nasraoui was "drunk," an excuse Arshavin dismissed, reiterating that Kryseva was bothering him with his phone.
The incident occurred shortly after the 19-year-old Yamal was awarded the Kopa Trophy, the third consecutive year the award has gone to a player associated with Barcelona. Despite this recognition, Yamal and his family may have had higher expectations, particularly given Yamal's successful season, which included winning the World Cup and La Liga.
This follows a similar sentiment from the previous year, when Nasraoui expressed disappointment that his son did not win the Ballon d'Or, calling him "the best player in the world by far" and suggesting a "moral harm" had been done. Yamal's uncle, Abdul, also publicly stated that Lamine Yamal was the superior player to Ballon d'Or recipient Harry Kane, citing Yamal's achievements and talent in a recent interview.
