Arthur Kaluma has agreed to a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, a move that rewards his strong showing during the recent NBA Summer League. A source confirmed the agreement to the California Post on Monday, following an initial report by ESPN.
Kaluma, a 6-foot-7, 225-pound forward with a 7-foot half-inch wingspan, averaged 17.3 points and 3.7 rebounds across six summer league games. He demonstrated efficiency from the field, shooting 55.1%, and was effective from beyond the arc, hitting 38.9% of his three-point attempts. His performance helped lead the Lakers to the Las Vegas Summer League semifinals.
The Lakers will need to open a roster spot to accommodate Kaluma's signing. Chris Duarte, Peter Suder, and AK Okereke previously occupied the team's two-way slots. Duarte re-signed with the franchise on July 3, while Suder and Okereke joined the Lakers on two-way deals after going undrafted last month. It is anticipated that either Suder or Okereke may be waived to make space for Kaluma.
Kaluma has played for multiple college programs, including Creighton (2021-23), Kansas State (2023-24), and Texas (2024-25), before entering the 2025 NBA Draft without being selected. He spent the 2025-26 season with the Lakers' G League affiliate, the South Bay/Coachella Valley Lakers. In the G League, he posted averages of 14.6 points and 4.9 rebounds, shooting 54.8% from the field and 36.7% from three-point range.
Front office personnel observed Kaluma's potential during the summer league, with multiple individuals telling The Post that he possessed two-way talent. His physical tools and performance suggest he could become an impactful professional player.
