Lakers Rule Out Collin Sexton for Season Opener vs. Warriors
The Lakers will also be without rookie guard Cameron Carr and second-year forward Adou Thiero for Wednesday's game.
Collin Sexton has been ruled out of the Los Angeles Lakers' season debut against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday. Sexton missed all five preseason games due to a right soleus strain. Although he participated in his first full practice on Monday and was considered day-to-day, he will not be available for the opener.
The Lakers also announced Tuesday that rookie guard Cameron Carr is out with a right oblique strain, and second-year forward Adou Thiero will miss the game due to left knee effusion.
Sexton had expressed optimism following Monday's practice, stating he felt good, but noted continued tightness in his leg. He signed a two-year, $19 million contract with the Lakers this offseason. In his eight seasons in the league with the Cavaliers, Jazz, Hornets, and Bulls, Sexton has averaged 18.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game, shooting 47.2% from the field and 38.9% from three-point range.
The Lakers are scheduled to host the Warriors at Crypto.com Arena with a 7 p.m. PST tip-off.
