Samantha Busch, the widow of NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, has shared intimate details about her grief and the challenges of life following her husband's death in May. Kyle Busch died at the age of 41 after a prolonged battle with pneumonia that led to sepsis.
In recent social media posts, Samantha described the profound loneliness she experiences, particularly at night. "In the evenings when the kids go to bed the silence and loneliness is almost unbearable," she wrote. "I pace the house thinking of all our memories."
She revealed that she has begun sleeping with a body pillow and one of her husband's shirts, attempting to find comfort in their presence. "I sleep tucked on my side of the bed with a body pillow and his shirt pretending he's still next to me. I hate it so much that his shirt doesn't smell like him anymore," she shared.
The posts offered a glimpse into her bedroom, where three photos of herself and Kyle are displayed.
Kyle Busch died on May 21, following hospitalization for a severe illness. Samantha, along with their children, Brexton and Lennix, attended the Coca-Cola 600 race shortly after his death, where NASCAR held a moment of silence in his honor. During the tribute, Samantha held their daughter, Lennix, who wore checkered bows in her hair, a nod to her father's racing career. Their son, Brexton, wore a cap featuring his father's No. 8, a number that has been temporarily retired until he potentially races in NASCAR.
Samantha expressed gratitude for the support the family has received during this difficult period. "The outpouring of love the family has received 'during this unimaginable time has brought comfort in the middle of so much pain,'" she stated. "'Knowing the impact Kyle had on others and seeing how they are honoring him through each unique act of generosity is a true testament to how special Kyle is to so many people.'"
She added, "There are moments when the weight of this loss feels impossible to carry, yet time and time again God, through you all, has shown us we are not alone."
Kyle and Samantha Busch were married for 15 years. They first met in 2007.
