Kurt Angle Reveals Iconic WWE 'Milk-O-Mania' Segment Used Food Coloring, Not Real Milk

WWE Hall of Fame inductee Kurt Angle has revealed a surprising detail about one of professional wrestling's most memorable moments: the 'Milk-O-Mania' segment from the 'Attitude Era.' Contrary to popular belief, the milk truck that doused 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and Stephanie McMahon on the Aug. 20, 2001, episode of 'Monday Night Raw' did not contain real milk.

Angle, a central figure in WWE during that period, explained that the liquid sprayed from the truck was actually colored water. "What they did, it is pretty cool, the hose that we had hooked up it had food coloring in the right front where the spicket is or where the knob is. And when the water would go through, it would turn white," Angle stated. He noted that while he did drink real milk from the truck during the segment, the spray used for the cameras and the crowd was a concoction to mimic the appearance of milk.

This revelation addresses a long-held assumption among wrestling fans. The segment, punctuated by commentator Jim Ross's famous line, "Milk-O-Mania is running wild," became an iconic part of Angle's career and the WWE's 'Attitude Era' programming. Angle, who wrestled during the transition into the 'Ruthless Aggression Era,' was a key player in WWE's victory over its competition during the 'Monday Night Wars.'

During his tenure with WWE, Angle achieved significant success, holding numerous championships. He is a six-time world champion and has won the Intercontinental, European, Hardcore, United States, and Tag Team Championships once each. He was also the winner of the 2000 King of the Ring tournament and was recognized as the fifth Grand Slam champion in WWE history. Angle was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017.
