Knicks Bolster Roster With Five Veterans Competing for Final Spot

The New York Knicks have signed five veteran players, including Bruce Brown and James Wiseman, to training camp contracts, initiating a competition for the team's final roster spot.

In addition to Brown and Wiseman, the Knicks also signed Ochai Agbaji, John Konchar, and Drew Eubanks. All five deals are non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 contracts, signaling these players are participating in a tryout to earn a place on the team.

Currently, the Knicks hold 13 standard NBA contracts, one below the league-mandated minimum of 14. The team has the flexibility to add one more standard deal while remaining under the second apron. The acquisition of these five players sets the stage for a critical battle for that 14th roster position.

The player who emerges victorious from this training camp competition will secure a standard contract before the season begins. However, this does not necessarily guarantee a fully guaranteed deal, as exemplified by Landry Shamet, who started the previous season on a standard, non-guaranteed contract.
