Three-time NBA All-Star Khris Middleton has been traded to the Washington Wizards as the focal point of a rare six-team deal, according to ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania.

Middleton, 34, who becomes a free agent after a stint with the Dallas Mavericks, has agreed to a three-year, $17.6 million sign-and-trade deal with the Wizards. This move marks his return to Washington, where he spent part of the last two seasons after being traded to the Wizards at the 2025 deadline.

The trade involves the Wizards, Mavericks, Clippers, Pistons, Bucks, and Grizzlies. Other players involved in the complex agreement include John Collins, Gary Harris, and Taurean Prince going to Detroit; Isaiah Stewart to Memphis; Santi Aldama to Dallas; and Caris LeVert to Milwaukee.

The Wizards will also send former No. 2 overall pick D'Angelo Russell to the Grizzlies as part of the deal, along with a future second-round pick and a future second-round pick swap.

Middleton is entering his 15th NBA season and is best known for his 12-season tenure with the Milwaukee Bucks, where he won an NBA Championship in 2021 and an NBA Cup in 2024. Last season, he averaged 10.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 63 games. He has accumulated 80 games of playoff experience.

Russell, originally drafted second overall by the Lakers in 2015, has played for multiple teams, including Brooklyn, Golden State, Minnesota, Dallas, and Washington. He was acquired by the Wizards in February as part of a three-team deal involving the Mavericks and Charlotte Hornets but did not play a game for the team. He had picked up his $6 million player option on June 19 before being moved in this latest transaction.
