Kentucky Wildcats Repeat Overtime Heroics With Another Walk-Off Two-Point Conversion

The Kentucky Wildcats have once again achieved victory through a dramatic overtime two-point conversion, this time defeating the No. 10 LSU Tigers 35-34. This marks the second consecutive week the Wildcats have secured a win in overtime with a two-point conversion, a feat that makes them the first team in FBS history to accomplish this in back-to-back games.

Both teams exchanged scoring drives throughout regulation, which ended in a 27-27 tie. LSU received the ball first in overtime, with quarterback Sam Leavitt scoring on a 10-yard pass followed by a 15-yard touchdown run. Kicker Scott Starzyk converted the extra point, giving LSU a seven-point lead.

Kentucky responded with their own touchdown drive, capped by a 1-yard run from running back CJ Baxter. Facing a similar situation to the previous week against South Carolina, Kentucky head coach Will Stein opted to go for the two-point conversion to win the game. After a timeout from LSU and a subsequent timeout from Kentucky to negate a false start penalty, the Wildcats executed the play. LSU appeared to anticipate a pass, leaving an opening for quarterback Kenny Minchy to run into the end zone for the victory.

Minchy threw for 246 yards in the game, while LSU's Leavitt passed for 275 yards. The win represents a significant upset for Kentucky and a notable loss for LSU, which has now suffered two defeats this season.
