Following a dramatic overtime victory, Kentucky fans flooded Kroger Field to celebrate a stunning 35-34 upset over No. 10 LSU on Saturday. The jubilant crowd also directed taunts and gestures toward LSU coach Lane Kiffin as police escorted him from the field.

The Wildcats secured their victory with a late field goal in the fourth quarter to force overtime. After LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt scored a touchdown, Kentucky responded with a score of their own. The game was ultimately decided on a two-point conversion by Kentucky quarterback Kenny Minchey.

As fans rushed the field, they surrounded Kiffin, who was being protected by Louisiana state troopers. Videos circulating on social media show fans recording themselves flipping their middle fingers at the coach and shouting insults. Fans in the stands were also heard shouting at Kiffin as he exited.

The intense animosity directed at Kiffin is likely fueled by several factors, including his offseason departure from Ole Miss for the LSU position and a controversial attempt to recruit players who had already signed NFL contracts. Furthermore, Kiffin previously served as the head coach of Kentucky's primary rival, the Tennessee Volunteers.

This win marks a historic achievement for Kentucky, as they become the first team in FBS history to win consecutive overtime games by a single point. Last week, the Wildcats defeated South Carolina 35-34 in overtime.

Kentucky is expected to face a $500,000 fine from the SEC for the field storming. The victory is projected to move the Wildcats into the top-25 rankings for the first time since 2023. Their next game is an away match against Oklahoma.
