Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green was ejected from Monday night's game against the Phoenix Suns, drawing criticism from former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins. The incident marked Green's first ejection of the 2026-27 season.
Green received two technical fouls in quick succession. The first occurred when he wrapped his arms around Suns center Khaman Maluach during an attempt at the rim. The second technical foul followed when he and Suns guard Dillon Brooks became entangled.
On ESPN's "First Take," Perkins expressed his frustration with Green's consistent altercations, stating, "When was the last time we discussed Draymond Green and brought him up for his basketball and not fighting? At some point, he has to deliver on the floor."
Perkins added that Green has been "nonexistent" for the Warriors this season, calling him "a liability more than an asset." He suggested that the team's energy is now coming from a younger player, Yaxel Lendeborg, rather than Green. Perkins urged an end to giving Green a "pass" for his actions.
Despite the criticism, Warriors guard Stephen Curry defended Green after the game, saying, "He lit a fire in all of us, and we had to respond."
