Harry Kane stated that the "itch" to return to England and pursue the Premier League's all-time scoring record is not as strong as it once was. Kane, who left Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich in 2023, has scored 213 goals in the English top flight, leaving him 47 goals shy of Alan Shearer's record of 260.
Since his transfer to Germany, Kane has experienced a prolific period, scoring a total of 73 goals in his first season with Bayern Munich. He is currently in the final year of his four-year contract, which he signed for £86.4 million. Discussions about a new contract with the German club are reportedly set to begin.
Speaking after receiving the Golden Boot for being the Bundesliga's top scorer, the England captain expressed his contentment in Munich. "When I first left, for sure it was something I thought – I would definitely be coming back," Kane said. "That itch isn't there as much anymore. I am extremely happy here in Munich, it opened my eyes to a totally different world of football outside of England and it has made me appreciate European football even more."
Kane emphasized his current focus on Bayern Munich and his family's settled life in the city. "I just think the team we have here and the manager, my family is really settled here, it is just about being in the best place possible," he added. "Never say never, but for now I am concentrating on Bayern Munich and we will see what the future holds."
