Jordan Walker secured a dramatic victory in the Home Run Derby on Monday, surpassing Kyle Schwarber in the final round at Citizens Bank Ballpark. Walker entered the competition with the third-longest odds to win but ultimately prevailed, becoming the first player from the Cardinals franchise to win the event.
The championship round saw Walker trailing Schwarber, requiring him to hit six home runs with his remaining swings to tie and force a bonus round. He successfully met the challenge, hitting three home runs on his final three swings to clinch the title.
Walker's performance in the semifinals was also notable. He hit six home runs on eight swings to advance, leaving seven swings unused. In the first round, he tied Willson Contreras for the lead with 13 home runs.
