Joaquin Buckley Goes Viral for SNUBBING Dana White Handshake, Silent Interview

UFC fighter Joaquin Buckley has garnered significant attention this week for his unusual pre-fight conduct, which includes snubbing a handshake from UFC president Dana White and remaining silent during a television interview.

Buckley is scheduled to face Mike Malott in the main event of UFC Fight Night 291 in Edmonton, Canada. The welterweight gained wider recognition six years ago for a viral spinning kick knockout of Impa Kasanganay.

During the pre-fight weigh-in, White extended his hand to Buckley for the customary face-off. Buckley, however, appeared to ignore the gesture, opting instead to maintain a stare-down with his opponent, Malott. White was observed with a look of bemusement following the interaction.

Further fueling the viral moment, Buckley participated in a pre-fight interview where he provided no verbal responses. When questioned by UFC reporter McKenzie Pavacich, Buckley simply stared at the camera for over a minute. The interviewer eventually concluded the segment, stating, "This might be a first for me, guys. Joaquin we will let you stay locked in [and] get ready for this fight. Best of luck to you."

The welterweight then stayed silent throughout a TV interview before his fight with Mike Malott

Buckley, often known for his willingness to speak during fight weeks, has maintained this silent approach leading up to his bout with Malott. This encounter comes as Buckley is looking to rebound from two consecutive losses. Prior to his defeat against Sean Brady in May, Buckley had commented that he felt he was fighting for his future with the UFC.
