Jets' Fitzpatrick Flags Down Browns Rookie Concepcion With Hard Hit
Cleveland's second-round draft pick is sidelined after a jarring tackle in the first quarter.
New York Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick delivered a significant hit to Cleveland Browns rookie wide receiver KC Concepcion in the first quarter of their Sunday afternoon game at MetLife Stadium. The play resulted in a flag for a hit on a defenseless receiver and Concepcion being ruled out for the remainder of the game.
The collision occurred as Concepcion was attempting to turn upfield after a reception. Fitzpatrick, lurking in the secondary, made contact that appeared to be helmet-first, drawing immediate attention from officials.
Concepcion remained down on the field for several moments before being able to get up and walk off under his own power. He did not return to the game.
The Browns selected Concepcion in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. He entered Sunday's game with 17 catches for 144 receiving yards on the season. Prior to the hit, Cleveland managed to score a field goal on the drive.
Fitzpatrick, in his first season with the Jets, has been noted for his physical play. He entered the game with 16 tackles and an interception. The Browns, seeking to extend their winning streak, entered the matchup with a 3-1 record, while the Jets aimed to end a three-game losing skid.
