The New York Jets closed out their preseason with a 23-6 defeat against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on Friday night. The game saw an injury to a key defensive player and continued efforts by the team to generate turnovers.

Edge rusher Joseph Ossai sustained a foot injury during the game. While the Jets entered training camp relatively healthy, Ossai's injury is considered the most significant to a player expected to be a major contributor. Other notable injuries include Breece Hall (groin) and Kenyon Sadiq (setback from hernia surgery), though both are anticipated to return.

Despite the loss, the Jets' defense recorded three interceptions over the final two weeks of the preseason, including one by Marcelino McCrary-Ball off Giants backup quarterback Jameis Winston on Friday. The team also recovered a fumble in the game. This marks an improvement from the previous season, where the Jets had zero interceptions and only four total takeaways.

Defensive player Nate Lynn also registered a sack against the Giants, adding to his preseason performance. Lynn, who was acquired by the Jets 10 days prior, recorded two sacks in the previous preseason game against the Steelers before adding another against the Giants. While he may have joined the team too late to contend for a roster spot, he is a candidate for the practice squad.
