NFL Hall of Famer Jerry Rice confronted a heckler during the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course on Thursday, July 10, 2026. Rice, 63, charged into the gallery after a fan yelled "Fore!" immediately following one of his tee shots.

Rice, who was competing alongside other notable athletes and celebrities like Aaron Rodgers, Charles Barkley, and Tony Romo, turned towards the gallery and shouted, "Hey! Yo! Hey! Hey!" He then ducked under the ropes, club in hand, and approached the spectators. When Rice demanded to know which individual was responsible, a fan identified the heckler as being dressed in "Green and blue." Rice eventually closed the distance with the heckler, and the situation de-escalated. He returned to the tee box to applause from the crowd. Rice finished the tournament in 42nd place among 90 competitors.

This was not Rice's only notable interaction at the event. Last year, he reportedly reacted sharply to reporters' questions about the Kansas City Chiefs, interpreting them as perceived slights against his former team, the San Francisco 49ers. One spectator was quoted as saying, "Don't poke the bear!"
