NFL Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis expressed strong confidence in the Los Angeles Rams' defensive potential if Aaron Donald decides to return to the team. Bettis told the California Post on Thursday that Donald's presence would transform the Rams' defense into a "two-man wrecking crew."

Donald has been reportedly contemplating a return to the NFL after a period of retirement. He has been actively training and has maintained regular contact with Rams head coach Sean McVay. Bettis suggested that the indications point toward a potential comeback.

"All the indications tell you what you want to know," Bettis stated. "He’s out there, he’s getting himself in shape. So I would expect to see him probably not sooner than later, but probably at some point later in the year."

Bettis, a former running back for the Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers, emphasized Donald's impact as a singular player.

"It makes them dynamic," Bettis said, "because Aaron Donald was a one-man wrecking crew and now it becomes a two-man wrecking crew."

Aaron Donald, 35, last played in the NFL during the 2023 season. In his 10-year career with the Rams, he recorded 111 sacks, earned 10 Pro Bowl selections, and was named Defensive Player of the Year three times. His potential return alongside other defensive talents like Myles Garrett, acquired by the Rams in a trade in June, has fueled speculation about the team's future defensive capabilities.
