Jeremiah Smith's Past Performances Against Indiana Ahead of Next Matchup

Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jeremiah Smith will face the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET, a matchup that marks the first time the two teams have played since last season's Big Ten Championship game. Smith has had varied success against Indiana's defense throughout his collegiate career.

In the 2025 Big Ten Championship, Smith delivered a standout performance against Indiana's defensive coordinator Bryant Haines' unit. He recorded eight receptions for 144 yards, averaging 18.0 yards per reception. This game marked his fifth 100-plus-yard receiving game of the season. Despite Smith's efforts, Ohio State lost the championship game to Indiana 13-10. Indiana's victory was their first over Ohio State since 1988.

Earlier in the 2024 season, a Week 13 game saw Ohio State end Indiana's undefeated streak with a 38-15 victory. While Ohio State outgained Indiana significantly, Smith's individual statistics were limited to three receptions for 34 receiving yards and a 12-yard carry. These 34 receiving yards represented the second-lowest total of his career at that point.

This season, Smith has been a dominant force for the Buckeyes. Through six games, he has accumulated 48 receptions for 916 yards (19.1 yards per reception) and 11 touchdowns, leading the Big Ten in all three categories and ranking second nationally. He is the first player in Big Ten history to have back-to-back games with over 200 receiving yards, a feat also achieved by Indiana's Ty Fryfrogle in 2020. Smith has also become Ohio State's all-time leader in receptions (211), receiving yards (3,474), and receiving touchdowns (38).

Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti recently commented on Smith's performance, stating that "there's no one" playing at his level. Smith previously led the Big Ten in receiving yards in both 2024 and 2025, and in receptions and receiving touchdowns in 2024.
