Jason Williams on LeBron James' National Anthem Behavior: 'Stand the F--- Still'

Former NBA point guard Jason Williams, who played 12 seasons in the league, has voiced strong disapproval of LeBron James' routine during the national anthem. On the "Hoopin’ N Hollerin'" podcast, Williams stated that athletes "should just stand the f--- still" during the anthem, expressing his opinion that James' actions are inappropriate.

Williams suggested that players are expected to remain stationary during the anthem and that James' deviation from this norm might have led to penalties, although the NBA has not confirmed any fines for James' behavior. "You’re supposed to stand still!" Williams said on the podcast. "Look, they’re all dressed the same. He’s dressed different. Guaranteed he got fined because you’re all supposed to be dressed the same. You’re supposed to be standing still. When I played, that was the rules. They could’ve changed the s--- now, but I guarantee he got fined."

James' habit of swaying and appearing to practice a golf swing during the anthem has drawn attention throughout the season. Williams' comments add to a chorus of criticism from public figures, including President Donald Trump and NBA analyst Charles Barkley, who have also spoken out against James' actions.
