Jamie Vardy has signed a contract with Burnley until the end of the season, marking his return to English football. The 39-year-old striker had been a free agent since departing Italian side Cremonese in the summer following their relegation to Serie B.

Burnley, currently at the bottom of the Championship standings after five matches, will be looking to Vardy’s experience to help improve their performance. The club has yet to secure a win in the English second tier, with two draws and three losses, having scored six goals and conceded 12.

Upon joining Burnley, Vardy expressed his commitment to aiding the team's climb up the league. "This club has a proper footballing history and passionate fans who deserve a team that represents them and their town," Vardy told the club's official website. "I can't wait to get going on the pitch and help the team move in the right direction."
