The Philadelphia Eagles have signed defensive tackle Jalen Carter to a four-year contract extension worth a reported $152 million, with $106 million guaranteed. The deal makes Carter the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history and keeps him under contract with the Eagles through the 2031 season.
The annual average value of Carter's extension is $38 million, surpassing the previous marks set by Jeffery Simmons of the Tennessee Titans ($35.2 million) and Chris Jones of the Kansas City Chiefs ($31.75 million). This extension positions Carter as one of the highest-earning interior defensive linemen in the league.
Carter, who was the ninth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, finished second in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting in his debut season. He was a key contributor to the Eagles' Super Bowl LIX victory following the 2024 season. Despite facing a shoulder injury that limited him to 11 games last year, he played at least 90 percent of the defensive snaps in four of those contests, averaging the most snaps per game among defensive tackles.
Carter has been selected to two Pro Bowls. The Eagles' investment reflects their belief in his continued development and future performance, especially in high-profile games.
