The Philadelphia Eagles have signed defensive tackle Jalen Carter to a record-breaking contract extension, making him the highest-paid player at his position in NFL history. The deal, valued at $152 million over four years and potentially reaching $160 million, will keep Carter under contract with the Eagles through the 2031 season.

Carter's agents, Drew and Jason Rosenhaus, confirmed the agreement on Tuesday. The contract includes $106 million in guaranteed money. This extension comes after the Eagles exercised Carter's fifth-year option for the 2027 season in April. His previous contract was set to expire after the 2026 season.

In the 2025 season, Carter appeared in 11 games, recording 33 total tackles, 29 pressures, and 12 quarterback hits. He also contributed with seven passes defensed, four tackles for loss, and three sacks. The 6-foot-3, 314-pound defensive tackle was a significant contributor to the Eagles' Super Bowl 2025 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, a game they won 40-22.

Since being selected by the Eagles in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Carter has amassed 13.5 sacks, 37 quarterback hits, 121 quarterback pressures, 12 passes defensed, and 108 tackles over his first three seasons. He earned a second-team All-Pro selection in 2024 and has been named to two Pro Bowls.

The Eagles are scheduled to open their 2026 regular season against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, September 13, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
