Islanders Bolster Defense with One-Year Deal for Logan Stanley
The team signed the 6-foot-7 defenseman days before their season opener.
The New York Islanders have signed defenseman Logan Stanley to a one-year contract, the team announced Sunday. The move comes just days before the Islanders are set to open their season.
Stanley, who stands 6-foot-7, was acquired by the Islanders from the Winnipeg Jets prior to last season's trade deadline and subsequently dealt to the Buffalo Sabres. In the previous year, he recorded 26 points, including nine goals and 17 assists, across his time with both teams. However, he was scratched for the Sabres' final four playoff games.
The Islanders also made other roster adjustments, sending defenseman Isaiah George to the AHL's Bridgeport after a challenging training camp, and reassigning Kashawn Aitcheson and Cole Eiserman to AHL Hamilton. Additionally, goaltender Vitek Vanecek was placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment.
Stanley was originally selected 18th overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. The Islanders will begin their season on Wednesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
