New York Islanders management has publicly endorsed defenseman Isaiah George, signaling their belief in his potential to secure a roster spot. General Manager Mathieu Darche and coach Peter DeBoer have both conveyed that George is expected to earn his place on the team during training camp.
Following the NHL draft, Darche stated his expectation that George would compete for a position. DeBoer echoed this sentiment shortly thereafter, reinforcing the organization's view that George has the opportunity to make the roster. This validation comes after a two-year period where George's presence in the team's plans may have been less clear. The affirmations from Darche and DeBoer suggest a shift in the team's outlook regarding George's immediate future.
