Inter Miami CF announced Thursday the appointment of Cristian Alberto 'Kily' González as the club's new first team head coach. He will replace Guillermo Hoyos, who has been leading the team provisionally.

González's official duties will commence upon receiving the necessary work permits. Hoyos will continue to manage the team until the arrival of González and his coaching staff. The announcement comes as Inter Miami is in the midst of a five-match winless streak, with four losses and one draw across regular season and Leagues Cup play. The team currently holds second place in the Eastern Conference standings with 39 points after 21 games.

Prior to this appointment, González managed Argentine clubs Rosario Central, Unión de Santa Fe, and Platense. His playing career began at Rosario Central in 1993, followed by stints in Europe with Valencia, Zaragoza, and Inter Milan. He also represented the Argentina national team, playing alongside current Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi in World Cup qualifiers in 2005.

Hoyos initially served as interim manager starting in April, stepping up from his role as Inter Miami's sporting director to replace Javier Mascherano. He was later named permanent manager following the World Cup. Hoyos's tenure began with a strong record of 6-1-1, earning 19 out of a possible 24 points and seeing his team score 26 goals in eight matches.

Inter Miami is scheduled to host CF Montreal on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
