Indiana Stuns Michigan in Overtime, Securing First Road Victory Since 1967
Quarterback Josh Hoover's touchdown sealed the 13-6 win for the Hoosiers, marking a significant upset at Michigan Stadium.
Indiana secured a landmark 13-6 overtime victory against Michigan on Saturday, marking the Hoosiers' first win at Michigan Stadium since 1967. The triumph, orchestrated by quarterback Josh Hoover's four-yard touchdown run in overtime, prevented Indiana from experiencing its first two-game losing streak in three seasons under coach Curt Cignetti.
Michigan's offensive struggles were evident throughout the contest. Freshman quarterback Tommy Carr, starting in place of Bryce Underwood, completed 167 passing yards but was hampered by two turnovers: a lost fumble in the first quarter and an interception in the second half. Carr also took multiple sacks, contributing to missed field goal opportunities for the Wolverines.
In the decisive overtime period, Hoover connected with Brock Schott on a 21-yard pass to set up his own touchdown. Indiana's defense then held Michigan on its subsequent possession to clinch the improbable win.
The loss continues a difficult period for Michigan, which has struggled to find consistent success in the seasons following its College Football Playoff national championship. Indiana, meanwhile, returns home to face Minnesota next week, while Michigan prepares to play Rutgers.
