Identical twins Abigail and Emily Roper etched their names in Welsh gymnastics history by winning bronze medals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on the same day. Abigail secured her medal first in the women's vault competition, finishing in third place. Her sister, Emily, followed hours later by earning a bronze medal of her own on the uneven bars.

Abigail described the experience as "crazy" and expressed her surprise at winning a medal in her first major tournament final. "To come away with a bronze medal is just insane," she said.

Emily overcame the disappointment of finishing fourth in the vault to achieve her bronze on the uneven bars. She noted the quick transition between events and emphasized the importance of resilience. "It was about doing my own thing on the bars and this result was just amazing," Emily stated. "I just needed to regather my emotions and just know I knew what I could do."

In the women's vault, Abigail finished one place ahead of her sister. The gold medal in the vault went to Australia's Kate McDonald, with Canada's Ellie Black taking silver. Jemima Taylor of Wales finished seventh in her event.

These medals add to Wales' overall tally at the Commonwealth Games, which stands at six medals, including five bronze and one silver.
